The Envirosink group decided we would help our community Celebrate Chimney Hill a green local elementary school with it’s 10th Anniversary with an all day event. They did
it up with many activities beginning with a book fair, some interactive games, a bouncy slide and room, a dunk tank, Dam’s Lincoln Ford a local car dealership attended with
several cars ready for test drive and with each one donated $20 to the school. There was the resident health nurse, a 50/50 draw, several door prizes just for attending, free
mehndi, balloon animals, popcorn from the local credit union Envision, financial information from Scotia Bank, and of course cake.
We decided we would raise awareness with bringing our sink and demonstrating for the families how they could reuse kitchen tap water with our product. We had many
people see how easy it is to make a difference by reusing at least about 81 litres or 18 gallons a day per family by doing what we always do like waiting for hot or cold water,
washing fruits and veggies etc. This saves on energy as the water does not have to leave the property prior to re-use so the infrastructure cost is reduced also reducing the
municipal cost of water per household as the result is a better and more efficient use of water. We highly promote and recommend this reused water can then be redirected
to a rainbarrel or water storage system to be used to water your own vegetable garden. This encourages families to grow their own food and so they ensure healthy and cost
effective food too! We had a display of fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers to show how this water can be recycled and how beautiful the result can be. This ensures fresh
food and flowers and that as we all work together reminding each other of all the different ways we can use water wisely there will always be this precious resource for future
generations. To continue the celebration of the day we donated an Envirosink for the teachers lounge for ongoing learning purposes and to encourage a school garden
project using the recycled water. We finished the day with an interview with Shaw Cable which will air soon. So Congratulations to Chimney Hill teachers and students on your
10th Anniversary and thank you for all you do to educate each other and our community on being green with simple and wise ways we can do in our everyday living
